How these Dutch rental letter templates work
Every template is a complete, formal letter in Dutch, paired with a full English translation so you know exactly what you are sending. I wrote them based on my daily work in Dutch property management, using the wording that landlords, property managers, and the Huurcommissie expect to see.
Download the template, fill in your details in the marked blanks, and send it. Each one comes with step-by-step instructions, pre-written objection reasons where relevant, and tips on what evidence to attach. No legal jargon to figure out, and no translation guesswork. If you are not sure whether your situation calls for a formal letter at all, start with the matching guide below: it explains the rules in plain English and tells you when a letter is the right step.
Every Dutch rental letter template here is an instant digital download on Etsy. You pay once, download the files, and can reuse them whenever you need to.
Why a formal letter in Dutch?
A short email in English is easy to ignore. A formal Dutch letter that cites the right legal grounds is not: it shows your landlord that you know your rights, it creates a paper trail, and it is taken seriously if your case ever goes to the Huurcommissie (the Dutch Rent Tribunal). Dutch law gives tenants strong protection, but you do need to claim your rights in the right way and within the right deadlines. In my experience, a well-written formal letter resolves most disputes before any official procedure is needed.
